Thursday 29 August 2019 – Bucharest
Breakfast in this hotel, Radisson Blu, was interesting. We wanted a table of six so we could all sit together. Ros and I were in the restaurant first, and it was packed, beyond belief! We found two tables of four together and thought that we could simply put them together. Well, the restaurant staff had a different thought. We asked a guy and he gruffly said “that would create a table of 8”. Well, that was the idea! Since we were rebuked, we found two ‘lovers seats’ which had two seats on one bench and on the other side was one seat. We had two of these together.
Neal and Rose joined us, then we waited for Carwol and Mick Mick. In the meantime, the two businessmen at a table of four, next to an empty table of two, left. We jumped onto that table and put it all together to create 6. Success! The waiter did give Ros a dirty look as he wandered past though.
After breakfast, and getting ready, we went across the road to a souvenir shop. We wanted to have a look then see if we could get a massage. The spa didn’t open until 1pm so we had a bit of time to kill – but that’s easy for some when shopping.
Wandering back to the hotel we booked ourselves in for a massage at 3pm. We had a drink and something light to eat before heading into the pool area where Neal and Rose were. After a short time there we left to go to our room and get ready. The massages were lovely – I think I only woke myself up about 3 or 4 times. Ros did mention that she heard me grunt a couple of times.
Following the massage we went back to the room. I was a little shattered so went to sleep and awoke a few hours later in time for dinner. We had booked into a steak restaurant in the hotel for our final dinner with Neal, Rose, Carwol and Mick Mick. Neal and Rose would be staying another day before heading back to Australia. Carwol and Mick Mick would be on the same flight as us to London the next day.
The restaurant, food and drink were fantastic. We had a table next to the kitchen so we could look in. The steaks were huge, but I had to try and eat it all – which I did. We then hooked into dessert as well. You only live once!
After dinner we needed to pack as we would be up at 4:30am for a 5:30am bus to the airport.
