Sunday 1 September 2019 – London to Tours
We had a mid-afternoon flight from London Heathrow to Tours in France. Thankfully due to previous travel, we were lucky enough to have access to the Heathrow Lounge while waiting.
We flew out of Heathrow and touched down in Nantes — a smooth hop across the Channel. After a bit of baggage-wrangling and the usual hire car shuffle, we were on the road with keys in hand and maps (mostly) figured out.
The French countryside greeted us with that golden late-afternoon light and rows of sunflowers stretching off into the distance. It didn’t take long to remember why we love road-tripping in France: winding roads, charming villages, and boulangeries tempting us at every turn.
We were staying at a place called Central Parc — not the New York kind, but a cosy, modern spot tucked into the heart of town. It was a welcome sight after a day of planes, queues, and driving on the other side of the road.
Dinner was simple, local, and exactly what we needed. Tomorrow, we’ve got plans to explore one of the region’s most iconic sights — but for now, it’s time to recharge.
